Attar, Perfume Oil & Essential Oil: Understanding the Differences and Benefits of Traditional Scents

At Tarife Attar, we believe that everyone deserves to smell amazing and feel confident every day. That's why we offer a range of fragrances to suit every preference and budget. But with so many options available, it can be tough to know which one is right for you. In this post, we'll break down the key differences between our three main offerings: Attar, perfume oil, and essential oils.

First up, Attar. Attar is a traditional Middle Eastern fragrance that has been used for centuries. It is made by distilling botanical materials such as flowers, herbs, and spices into a base oil, such as sandalwood or jojoba. The result is a highly concentrated fragrance that is applied directly to the skin. Attar is known for its longevity, with many fragrances lasting for several hours or even all day. It is also highly prized for its complexity, with many layers of scent that unfold over time. Attar is a great choice for those who want a long-lasting, sophisticated fragrance that is truly unique.

Our Royal Court Collection is the home of all Tarife Attar natural distilled Attars.

Next, we have perfume oil. The perfume oil is similar to Attar in that it is a highly concentrated fragrance that is applied directly to the skin. However, unlike Attar, perfume oil is typically made with a blend of natural and synthetic materials rather than pure natural botanicals. This allows for a wider range of scents to be created, as well as a more consistent fragrance experience. While perfume oil may not have the same depth and complexity as Attar, it is still a great choice for those who want a long-lasting, high-quality fragrance without breaking the bank.

Our perfume oils are spread throughout our three themed collections:

Finally, we have essential oils. Essential oils are extracted from plants and are highly concentrated. They are typically used in aromatherapy and other holistic practices, as they are believed to have a wide range of health benefits. While essential oils can be used as a fragrance, they are not typically as long-lasting or complex as Attar or perfume oil. Instead, they are best used for their therapeutic properties, such as promoting relaxation or reducing anxiety.

We carry a few essential oils that are wonderful to use in your personal therapy sessions: Patchouli, Royal Green Frankincense (Hojari) Essential Oil, and Geranium essential oil.

So, which one is right for you? It depends on your personal preferences and needs. If you want a long-lasting, complex fragrance that is truly unique, Attar is the way to go. If you want a high-quality fragrance without breaking the bank, perfume oil is an excellent choice. And if you're looking for natural health benefits as well as a pleasant scent, essential oils are the way to go. Whatever you choose, we're confident that you'll love our fragrances and the confidence they bring.
